About this collection

The Saginaw Latino America Community Collection characterizes a portion of the important endeavor of preserving and representing Latino American culture in Saginaw County. Through the generous donations of several local families, this collection contains photographs and records documenting nearly 100 years of Latino presence in the Saginaw community. This collection is made possible in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association, entitled “Latino Americans: 500 Years of History.” The grant provided funds for Hoyt Public Library to host a digital scanning day for community members. The birth of this collection is the result of that event.
